Human Remains
At Maroon Logistics, we understand that transporting human remains—whether domestically or internationally—requires sensitivity and careful attention to detail. We are here to guide you through the process, offering professional support during this challenging time.

Transporting a Body by Air
Air travel is the most common way to transport human remains across state lines or internationally. Each airline has specific regulations, typically requiring embalming and an approved container (often referred to as an “air tray”). We help you navigate these requirements with ease.
For domestic transport, the paperwork is straightforward:
- A transportation permit
- A certified death certificate
- The airline’s shipping documents
You’ll also need to arrange a receiving funeral home, and we will coordinate with them to ensure a smooth process.
For international transport, requirements vary by country, and additional documents may be needed, such as:
- An embalming report
- The deceased’s passport
- A doctor’s statement confirming the absence of communicable diseases
Some countries may also require the remains to be in a sealed casket. We have experience working with consulates, many of which are located right here on the East Coast, including in Atlanta. Let us handle these details for you.

Transporting Cremated Remains
Shipping cremated remains is simpler due to their size and sterile nature. For domestic travel, whether by car, plane, or train, you’ll need:
- A transportation permit
- A certified death certificate
Most airlines allow cremated remains onboard, but they must pass security checks. We recommend using a temporary plastic urn, as it’s more likely to clear security without issues. We can assist with coordinating a funeral home if needed, but it’s not required unless additional services are necessary.
For international transport of cremated remains, the process is usually straightforward, but it’s always best to confirm specific country requirements with us or the destination’s consulate. Basic documentation is typically required.
We also offer shipping of cremated remains via USPS, with a fee of $125, which includes document preparation and mailing.
